I have. That is, I’ve abandoned this site. After the Tumblr implosion, this seemed like the best alternative. I was wrong – because nobody visits here. I’m keeping the site up as an archive of posts. Still have my Tumblr, though don’t post to it often. For fiction, I’m now posting to Archiveofourown. For images, usually Furaffinity. But don’t expect this to be updated again. It won’t.
Was on a stream with Boogeestro recently and for some reason the topic came around to Krystal. It inspired him to draw a little Krystal doodle. There’s a lot to like about this, not least of which he kept her chest reasonable! (Doodle. Jeeze. Here’s his ‘Doodle’:)
I’d suggested I’d like to color it and he was all for it. (BTW, he didn’t finish her below the knees so I kinda added that. Any wonkiness there is from me). So I started with pretty standard Krystal base colors, having removed the “paper” texture and the eye highlights.
I added some highlighting on the right side of the hair, ears, tail, legs…
Then my standard 2 level shading, real highlighs, furry edges…
And finally a background. Ended up going with a beach scene – but I used an Iris blur to blur the background except near Krystal herself. I feel like it draws the eyes there and away from the background.
That’s it. Just a little Krystal to help us all remember the summer. It will be back again someday! (Or, I suppose, it’s already there if you live in the southern hemisphere. Right now I am jealous.)
you know. it’s been a really wild ride on this site. good times and bad. I really owe a lot to you guys, and I’m grateful that I got to share my life with you and share content with you. you guys have changed my life and I’m truly honored to be able to create things for you all.

incredibly disappointed in tumblr and how they’re handling this. the community i’ve built on this site has been the main reason i log in. i can only hope that tumblr realizes this mistake and goes back on their word or tumblr just explodes and new site developers can fill in its place!

I’ve used Tumblr for years now, because I’m really not an artist. More of a wannabe writer that also likes to color drawings by others. Yeah, it’s a form of coattail riding, I’ll be the first to admit. But I also have tons of stories where I inserted images in appropriate places – some of them lewd, some not so much. But now most have been flagged and I’ve started backups on all my blogs to get everything off Tumblr as fast as I can.
What I’ll do with it all, I really don’t know – but at least once I’ve got everything out of the cloud and onto a nice USB drive, I’ll be master of my own content’s destiny again. And that will be a good thing. Unlike a lot of people, I’m really not all that pissed at Tumblr. I don’t like it, but I understand it. However, I do have a nice chuckle imagining the eyes of their ‘powers that be’ as massive numbers of people depart. The issue as I see it is a common one these days – do social platforms bear responsibility for the posts generated by their users? And it’s a question that has raged since the days of BBS’ in the 1990s. (I always come back to that since it’s my old stomping ground).
My personal feeling is that no, they don’t. Unless they decide they do. But once you take up the mantle of Content Police, you’ve also just taken up the inherent responsibility for it. Seems fair to me really – after all, platforms like Tumblr are making their $ off freely-donated content in exchange for a platform that allows others to find their content relatively easy. If Tumblr thinks that keeping their app on the Apple App Store is most important (they’re wrong, but it’s their decision), then Congratulations! With luck, their app will get back on the App Store and no one will care about it any more.
No, the real problem as I see it is with Apple. They pull the app from their App Store because SOME people that use it post objectionable content. Well, okay. Good thing NO ONE on Twitter does anything like that, right? There are surely no objectionable posts on Facebook either I’m sure. They could easily put a caveat and/or warning on the app, but no – they just pulled it. Again, it’s Apple’s right to do so – it’s their store. But I really hope all you iOS users think about that. Why you’re using any Apple product I really can’t fathom. (Full disclosure, my SO also uses an iPhone, as much as I’ve tried over the years to get her to stop.)
So at this moment I’m backing up all my Tumblr blogs. (I hope. Tumblr SAYS they’re backing up. I bet that server farm is suddenly balls-to-the-wall backing up though.) Don’t worry too much about the disk space, Tumblr! I promise once I get all my content off, I’ll wipe my blogs and save you every bit of space I ever took! Just think of all those squeaky clean servers you’ll have pretty soon, and bandwidth problems will be a thing of the past as your usage drops to a trickle! Woohoo! You did it! You’ve made yourself SQUEAKY-CLEAN! Kinda like a desert.
I’ll be yabbering a lot in this one, but most likely you’ve already seen the photo post I made on her. This is the end product that I’ll be working my way towards in this long-ass story of Wears-Only-Ropes.
That’s Wears-Only-Ropes as designed by Boogeestro, colored, water and sub by me. So here’s the story. Well really, HERE is her story:
So I write fanfiction, mostly based around Prequel. A while back I got the idea to write one using Ra’Jirra from Prequel as a spy in a sort of alternate-universe Tamriel from Elder Scrolls, where magic is fading and technology is beginning to come to power. The first was named “From Elsweyr With Love” – yeah, a take not only from the Bond movie, but some plot elements were lifted from the original as well.
I had a lot of fun writing that, so I did another called You Only Live 18 Times. In an odd way, I did pull some plot points from the Bond movie You Only Live Twice too, though unless you’ve seen that movie recently, I’d be surprised if you spot them too much. This time the story has a nautical slant, though Ra’Jirra still is the central character.
That image up there is part of the story too. By Boogeestro, who I’d only recently “tuned in to” and he did that one for me. I described the CATv3 as a sort of steampunk-JetSki, and he did an amazing job envisioning it. His Ra’Jirra design isn’t hard to look at either!
So I wanted another, and magically found some $ in my Paypal, so I gave him 3 scenes to choose from that he’d be interested in, and he chose the climactic scene from the You Only Live 18 Times story to do. I watched his stream as he drew her, though I had only the barest idea what she should look like. He produced this…
That design is just nuts. A friggin fluted TAIL? She was more than I’d ever hoped. I can say I suggested the Sailor tattoo on her leg at least. Well after that, I knew this was no longer just an illustration of a part of the story, this is a damned PROMOTION of it! So I’d better do the colors and background RIGHT. First thing I wanted was to get a color scheme. That crazy aquatic argonian design demands something not too conservative, thats for sure! I ended up going with this:
I liked the look of it, even though it’s far from conservative. In the scene from the story, she’s swimming down to a submarine. I intentionally left out a crucial thing so you won’t know exactly what’s happening just from the illustration. But she’s scared, I’ll leave it at that. So I went and found a tutorial describing how to illustrate an underwater scene in Photoshop. I followed it and came up with this frankly gorgeous background.
I was tempted to stop right there. Looks almost like a cel from a movie – well, other than the boobs and lizard puddy. But you’ve seen the final version and there’s not a lot more to tell. Just that I really think for a change I did Boogeestro’s design proud with my colors and background. One thing I KNOW is that I love the result.

Knowledge of the prior one isn’t necessary, but if you like it, you can always go back to read From Elsweyr With Love. Also, I am writing the final story now, named On His Mane’s Secret Service. This time though, other than lifting the title, it’s a completely original plot.
I’m not articulate enough to really provide good in-depth advice, but really it’s all about balancing the human and animal aspect into a believable structure. Doesn’t have to be realistic! Just has to look nice and functional. Pay attention to the bone structure and the segmentation!
First, by ECMajor again. I’m just coloring. I got such a huge response from the last one though, how could I not? Of course, I know all the response was ECM’s And with halloween coming up, this was just a natural. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I call it conflicted. I’m convinced it was ECMajor’s way of testing just how gross can an image be and still be sexy. Oddly enough, the answer is obviously, “Pretty Damn Gross!”. You’re gonna have to go even grosser apparently.
What is that? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?
Well, I call it a Zombie-Dragon-Camel-Demon. Pretty common actually. 🙂
Now, I’ll tell you right now if you don’t zoom in on this thing, you’re missing a lot. And, of course, Tumblr doesn’t Iet you zoom in. If you know the 1280 filename trick, go for it. But I tend to ramble on, showing layers and stuff, but with all the new people watching, I won’t do that to you. Here’s my final colored version. You needn’t go any farther. Also I’ll put the full res version on FA shortly.
Okay, so here’s my layers. I’ll zoom in on the important bits so Tumblr’s shitty resolution won’t totally ruin it.
For base colors, I went with a rather tame fawnish color for the majority. Three levels of green for the scales. A sickly red for the topmost horns and that weird stuff going on at her back. Yellow eyes to pop out. I tried various colors for the wings, but the dark grey with a very slight blue looed best I thought. Mostly I am trying not to oversaturate colors. I tend to do that. Okay, on to shading.
ECMajor shades awfully well just in the drawing. There’s really little I have to do but follow his lead. And that determines the light source. I did bring the light source down somewhat from where most of his shade indicates though. Don’t know that it’s very noticeable. Highlighting is next, and that tends to be a problem for me. I definitely have a tendency to overdo it and make my characters look like they’re made of latex. (Um… I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. But my tastes aren’t necessarily everyone’s. Nor realistic. 🙂

EWWW! That looks better (worse) than I ever expected!
Finally I settled on that rather plain background. I tried a variety of things, but really there’s so much going on her body, the background cries out to be simple. So I kept it that way in the end, just giving it a bit more than a simple gradient, and highlighting ECM’s sig that I’d almost obscured. Put my own in too this time. I used to think it was conceit to put a sig on for just coloring, but another artist pointed out that it’s preferred, so everyone knows if you screw it up badly, it’s not their fault. 🙂
Oh, and to leave you with another great part. Those outrageous hooves. Yikes.

It’s an unremittingly dark story with absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. I read it in 83 and liked it. Saw the first movie in in 1989 and realized it was a well done movie, followed the real story pretty accurately, and I wished I’d never seen it.
The story is just “How bad can a family get fucked?”. Goes from happy, downhill until the end, when it drops off the cliff. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to see it.
The one highlight of the ‘88 movie was Fred Gwynne was in it. His 2nd to last movie. (Last was My Cousin Vinny, which he was again excellent in.) Not a bad way to end a career for Herman Munster.
But I can imagine no audience who would want to see this. This is a case where a story really doesn’t need to be made into a movie. This is not “IT”.
The one blessed thing that ‘89 movie didn’t do was to depict the scene where the protagonist hears the truth from hell. That scene in the book forever changed my belief in the maxim that knowing the truth is always better. If you’ve read it, you know what I mean. If you haven’t, I do hope this movie doesn’t throw that in.
Stephen King is one fucked up individual. Great author and deserves his fame, but… dude. You got a problem.
